Global Change

Regular course within the MSc Physical Geography at Marburg University.

Course description

Global change is one of the key topics in geography and other environmental sciences. Hence, understanding global change and the role of geography in this context is one of the key qualifications in the professionalization of geographers.

In this module we will approach the subject of global change from both a geography perspective and and educational perspective. The former will focus on drafting individual scientific key subjects from a geography perspective. The latter will transfer the resulting essentials in an exhibition content suitable for communicating the subject to scientific laymen.

The individual sessions can be grouped into three sections:

  • Warm up and definition of exhibition topic: in session 1 to 3 we will have a look on the final product of the course, i.e. the exhibition and define individual key subjects.
  • Modelling of scientific topics from a geography perspective: in sessions 4 to 9 we model the individual scientific topics from a geography perspective to derive the very fundamental core aspects of the topics.
  • Design and implementation of the exhibition: in sessions 10 to 14 we will finally transfer the scientific topics into an educational setup as part of a multi-media exhibition and reflect the final product from a scientific and educational perspective.

Have fun!
